Business Development Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Business Development Specialist, you are the tip of the spear for BayPointe Technology’s growth. This role is responsible for transforming ice-cold prospects into warm, qualified opportunities by introducing organizations to BayPointe’s people, expertise, and consultative approach to IT.
Under the direction of the Director of Sales & Business Development, you will focus exclusively on top-of-funnel activity such as researching, prospecting, and engaging new organizations through every possible outbound channel. Your primary objective is not to sell a product, but to spark meaningful conversations that lead to introductory meetings between qualified prospects and BayPointe Account Executives.
A successful Business Development Specialist is confident, curious, and resilient—comfortable initiating conversations with business leaders, asking thoughtful questions, and articulating BayPointe’s value as a trusted IT partner. This role requires persistence, emotional intelligence, and the ability to earn trust quickly in short interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prospecting & Outreach: Proactively engage cold prospects via phone, email, and other outbound channels while working from targeted call lists and prospect databases to identify potential new clients. Research organizations prior to outreach to ensure relevant and personalized conversations.
Lead Qualification: Identify and qualify prospects based on business size, needs, pain points, and alignment with BayPointe’s services by asking discovery-oriented questions to uncover challenges related to IT, security, operations, and growth, and determining readiness and interest for a deeper consultative conversation.
Appointment Setting: Secure introductory meetings between qualified prospects and BayPointe Account Executives by clearly communicating the purpose and value of an initial meeting with BayPointe and ensuring a smooth handoff of prospect information and context to the assigned Account Executive.
Messaging & Value Articulation: Confidently explain BayPointe Technology’s consultative approach, core values, and service offerings while positioning BayPointe as a long-term IT partner rather than a transactional vendor, adapting messaging based on prospect responses and real-time feedback.
CRM & Activity Tracking: Accurately log outreach activity, conversations, and outcomes in company systems, track progress against individual activity and meeting-setting goals, and provide regular updates to sales leadership on results, trends, and prospect feedback.
Collaboration: Work closely with Account Executives to align on target accounts, messaging, and qualification criteria while participating in sales meetings, coaching sessions, and ongoing training.
Continuous Improvement:
Refine outreach techniques, talk tracks, and messaging based on results and coaching, stay informed on BayPointe services, industry trends, and common client challenges, and actively seek feedback and coaching to improve performance.
